Production

what i had intended for this project was to make a cooking video which had me talking/ giving instructions to the viewer however due to having some unexpected guests.

as for the production it was kind of out of the blue since i was panicking of what to do since i wasn't aware that we were filming i was under the impression that we were just making the plan for this project as if we were to film but not since we didn't have the equipment.

due to this the production was rather rushed and the food i was cooking was decided on the day as we had the ingredients so at the time of filming we didn't get the set up for the shoot as we had unexpected guests and siblings going through the set.

but we can make recreations of what the set looked like and how we filmed it, in the end we did only use one camera since my dad was filming with his phone and since he is in a wheelchair and our kitchen is rather small we didn't have another camera, however we did change the angel to appear that we made it with two camera's.

as for the food i was cooking we made bbq chicken wraps as of right now i don't know how the footage looks as i wasn't filming so i am quite anxious of how it turned out.

this was my first time cooking this all by myself so i was quite nervous.

this is the overall layout I went for I couldn't get the real footage since we had some unexpected company/ guest's turn up.

i will be recreating the setup  but it was mostly the layout in the photo in which we filmed everything

when filming my project my dad was the one filming while i was cooking and he was primarily filming from a side angel to see a lot of the process and when i wanted/ felt like there should be an angle change i would stay in position while he moved to an above view.

doing this made things flow together like a proper multicam piece and it worked pretty well for what i was going for in doing this project.

i took pictures showing what the above view would generally look like but it was closer up so you could see the ingredients up close, i felt the closer shots worked well in this shoot to show the ingredients and what they look like; see the process better.

this is a similar shot to how most of the video was filmed which is closer to the main subject of the shot but gives enough space for text (so that the subject in the shot can be seen even with text over the top of it).

this is a further away shot to see the whole setup better i felt for a viewers watching purposes having everything closer together (the cutting area and the cooking area) would look more cohesive and make more sense for a viewer.

for my video this was my overall setup for filming and cooking i did have to recreate the scenes showing the camera person view and the cook as to recreate them i portrayed both trying to show where everything was and what it generally looked like.
i got my brother to take these photo's.

when shooting i was learning how to do bits and pieces as i haven't done this recipe all by myself as i usually have done it with my mother so during this i was learning how to cut an onion, chicken as ive never done those things before

for filming i asked my dad to be the one to film and during filming i asked him to change the camera angle while i was in the same position so the scenes would match as good as possible.

after i cooked everything  i realized that i should have some shot of me making the final product and the end result so i asked my older brother to film those for me while i did the reveal of the final product.

The Editing Process:

as for editing we were given the link for premier pro so we could edit at home however i couldn't find it anywhere in my emails so i went with a program i have on my laptop which was on it when i got it
on my apps it is just called video editor so i don't know the exact name of the software

since i couldn't record the audio i had to figure out how to make subtitles in this program as i've never done any before this project so i had to figure out what i wanted to do with the text.

for the text i went for the classic option it was the first second one i looked at and felt that it fit well with what i wanted for my text.

to edit the text was a bit of a hassle as i had to cut each clip to add text as i had the whole edited video together (as in grouped) and i had to cut each section as the software only allowed one part of text on each video but other than that there wasn't too much trouble.

as for the text instructions itself  i based how communicated with the audience with the way that i have seen this cooking youtuber who i get a lot of inspiration from as her tutorials are usually subtitled.

the way that i separated the video's to add in the subtitles was fairly easy as this is the first time that i cut videos in this editing program.

to separate the video you just slide where you want the cut to be and in the image there are two colours that show where its split.

in some parts of the video there are pauses in which there aren't text so i tried to fill them a bit so it isn't just me cooking, in those parts i added some advice in which it may help the audience better.

during the editing process there was a lot of waiting and loading as it had to process a lot of scenes so it was difficult to keep up with my time management.

in one of my exports one of the scenes got frozen and cut out a bit of another part of the video and when i went to check what went wrong it was purely the export messing up but in the end i got it without cutting another section from the video.

i checked the video a few times before the final edit to ensure the export doesn't go wrong and after checking everything the video was done, after the visuals were done i added music that seemed neutral and positive/ happy.

which i felt fit the aesthetic i wanted to go for in my video

but for my final piece for my project i worry that the song will get copyrighted so i may just put a muted version of the final video and put the link to the song (i may decided to put a non copyrighted song in the background but that means going through everything again.)

the song i wanted to use: https://youtu.be/hpfLKbjTWn0

cooking video without audio: https://youtu.be/ZST0Dj02Dy8

for viewing purposes adding this music in the background when watching would give a better viewing experience

they are seperate due to the fact i am unsure whether the song would get copyright claimed but this is the music i was intending of using as it is calm like a lot of the other cooking video's that i have seen.
